The times in which we live are very challenging. If we read the news at all, we know that there is always a tempest going on, usually in multiple locations around the globe. Often, there is a tempest of some sort happening within our local world of family and friends. In addition, there are the tempests which occur within us.

In this book, I want to focus on the practices I have found that can stabilize me in a world of tempests.If I liken myself to a tent, I picture them as being the tent pegs which firmly fasten my little tent to the ground whenever a storm is raging. They are things I can count on- things that are reliable, don’t cost anything, and are easily accessible. As I describe my personal ‘tent pegs’, I am hoping that you will be able to relate to some of them, and that you will begin to discover what your personal ‘tent pegs’ might be.

As we think about this topic together, may we all grow in our ability to live with more strength and stability.
