Synopsis

As supply chains grow increasingly complex in the digital age, the integration of intelligent systems and sustainable practices has become essential for maintaining performance, resilience, and environmental responsibility. The rise of Industry 4.0 technologies is driving a fundamental rethinking of traditional supply chain management, requiring more adaptive and data-driven approaches. Advances in operational research, combined with digital tools, are enabling more sophisticated modeling, simulation, and optimization of supply chain systems. Together, these developments support the design of supply chains that are not only efficient and responsive but also aligned with the goals of digital transformation and sustainability. Smart Operational Research Solutions in the Era of Industry 4.0 and Sustainability presents a collection of innovative research and applied contributions demonstrating how operational research can support smart, sustainable supply chains and logistics systems. By integrating theoretical perspectives with real-world applications, this book offers valuable insights into the design, decision-making, and management of supply chains in the context of Industry 4.0. Covering topics such as decentralized logistics systems, adaptive resource allocation, and energy-efficient logistics, this book is an excellent academic resource for graduate and doctoral students, supply chain professionals, engineers, developers, policymakers, and more.
