Joana Carneiro Pinto is Career Strategy Expert and academic leader dedicated to empowering students and professionals to transition and grow in an ever-evolving work landscape. Leveraging a PhD in Psychology (from University of Minho) and my role as Coordinator of Master’s and Post-Graduation Programs at Faculty of Human Sciences, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, she integrates cutting-edge insights from career development, psychological assessment, and psychometrics to design and deliver high-impact curricula that bridges psychology with the fields of business and economics; and provides personalized coaching and strategic support for students and alumni through complex career opportunities and transitions. Her practical expertise is solidified by active involvement in pioneering international research, focused on delivering Insights into the Future of Work and enhancing well-being and life projects in contexts like remote work, gender equality, and retirement. She serves as the coordinator of the international research projects, a member of Cost-Actions, and a Review Editor for Frontiers in Psychology and Education. She is also the author of several assessment tools and intervention programs developed to equip individuals and groups with the skills to self-manage and (re)design their professional trajectories. Her mission is to advance the practice of career development and empower people and teams for sustainable success.

Paperback. Etat : new. Paperback. Understanding business and economic behavior requires moving beyond traditional models of purely rational decision-making. Human actions in organizations and markets are deeply shaped by psychological forces-emotions, cognitive biases, and mental processes that influence everything from workplace productivity to consumer choice. Examining these dynamics through the lens of strategic psychology reveals how decision-making can be better understood, predicted, and improved. By integrating insights from psychology and economics, it becomes possible to diagnose challenges and design more effective interventions. In an increasingly complex global environment, such perspective is essential for driving informed decisions and sustainable success. Applied Psychology and Competitive Advantage in Business: The Cognitive Edge unpacks the psychological mechanisms that govern human behavior in business and economic contexts. This book critically explores how emotions influence everything from talent management and organizational productivity to major consumer decisions and the overall health of the global economy. Covering topics such as decision-making under uncertainty, human-centered leadership, and enhancing organizational productivity, this book is an excellent academic resource for graduate and doctoral students, HR professionals, business leaders, managers, marketing specialists, organizational consultants, and more.
