Three men in Delaware, Ohio came together with a shared vision to transform the city they love into a beacon of hope and historical significance. Frank, Brent and Ric worked collaboratively with a group of friends to bring the legacy of Rutherford B. Hayes home to Delaware, Ohio. On October 4, 2019, that dream became a reality. On the birthday of Rutherford B. Hayes, the entire city turned out to dedicate the statue which sits proudly at the corner of Sandusky and William Streets. Their mission was to not only bring a statue of the 19th President of the United States to downtown Delaware, but to educate the young people of their city about President Hayes. Each year, the Rutherford B. Hayes Heritage Committee celebrates and educates the citizens of Delaware, Ohio on the grand qualities of this remarkable man. Not only is the magnificent statue a tribute to their mission, the three books for children, authored by the committee members, help our young people understand the significance that Rutherford B. Hayes played in our city, in our state, in our country and across the world.
