Synopsis

The second edition of Blue Water Ditching updates the 2012 version with valuable chapters on the application Ergo Blue and how it can greatly help search and rescue of a distressed crew crossing great water expanses or an off field landing in a non-radar environment. Ergo Blue has very strong life saving implications.

This version also provides an update of world-wide search and rescue and the value of ADS-B. Edition 2 addresses the myriad of questions asked by pilots over the last twelve years as I spoke at conferences. Updates are provided for ditching checklists and simulator scenarios.

Of huge importance to pilots, I have included words of how to land in open water. This is something I learned from experience - which very few pilots can write about.

Of utmost importance, I address the concept of a water landing which has been abandoned by governmental agencies. The risk in the past was great. Thankfully today the risk is greatly reduced.
