Synopsis

I’m a failure...
I’m a failure because I failed to complete the task at hand—the task of winning.
That’s what all of these stories are, products of me failing to win; failing to win various literature competitions I’ve entered over the years.
This book isn’t to bash me or lower my self-esteem (as I’ve walked away with a few wins of my own), but a look back at how far I’ve come on my journey as a writer, and a resting place for the stories that just didn’t cut it.
I don’t believe a writing competition defines you as a writer, but helps develop you as one. Often in these competitions, you are forced to think outside the box. Word limitations, being assigned genres you aren’t familiar with (me with horror), or simply time constraints.
Some of these stories are good, some are bad, some are cringe, and others are classified as pure blasphemy that will never see the light of day, but they all come together to make A Book of Failures.
