Synopsis

The leisurely pleasures of a New England ocean-front town are here contrasted with episodes in the daily lives of its people. Walter lived in the middle of the third major holocaust committed by his country. Unlike the previous two caused by men, the present one was perpetuated primarily by women. The book combines history, novel, biography and social commentary. Materialism, along with undisciplined lives resulting in poor health, wastefulness and moral and ethical laxity, are seen as components of a degenerating culture. Chapters alternate between relating events and making philosophical/theological observations about the decline.
Wayne Walden lives in Nashville, TN, USA. His writings of many genres are in various public and university libraries. He pursues an urban Amish lifestyle and moves among both mainstream and homeless populations.
