This is an updated republished version of Heads Turned by Jazz. New photographs, stories, and articles to enjoy.
First few pages are about my early life and family background as a child in Bedford Town. Then the chapter called “in the beginning” is about my interest in New Orleans Jazz (page 30). I started playing clarinet then the double bass and continued playing on the drums for over 60 years. My wife Liz plays the clarinet and we are on a wonderful journey playing the jazz music we love. The people we have met in our world of jazz have been phenomenal. This small book covers many miles of tarmac to jazz venues around the UK. We also took a trip to New Orleans to listen to some of our favourite musicians. This book is not an intellectual study of jazz. It is just stories about two people that that pursued our interest in the New Orleans traditional genre of the revival jazz played during the 1940s to the 70s. There were a good number of bands that were inspired by the bands of that period of time. 2019 has seen a decline in our style but hopefully people heads will be turned again when they hear recordings of George Lewis, Bunk Johnson, Billie and De De Pierce, Kid Shots Maddison and some other old style bands. There are 14 black and white pictures within the 14 font text. Enjoy this read.
