Synopsis

What if the strongest, healthiest, and most capable version of yourself is still ahead of you?

Most people approach health and fitness like a sprint-chasing quick results, looking for the next breakthrough. But the body doesn't reward urgency. It rewards consistency.

The truth is, the choices you make today determine far more than how you look next month. They determine whether you'll have the strength to hike with your family, travel without limitations, recover from setbacks, play with your grandchildren, and continue living life on your own terms for decades to come.

In Playing the Long Game, health and fitness coach Ken Nodes challenges the myths that keep so many people stuck and offers a practical, sustainable roadmap for building lifelong strength and health. Drawing on decades of personal experience - as an athlete, a CrossFit gym owner, and a coach to hundreds of people across all ages and fitness levels - from beginners just starting out to lifelong athletes looking to train smarter - Ken shares the lessons that transformed not only his own life, but the lives of hundreds of clients.

Inside you'll discover how to:

✓ Build strength that supports you for life.

✓ Develop simple habits that become easier to maintain over time.

✓ Separate fitness myths from what actually works.

✓ Improve your nutrition without chasing fad diets.

✓ Create a mindset focused on consistency instead of perfection.

✓ Understand what cardio is actually for - and what it isn't.

This isn't another book promising six-pack abs in six weeks or the latest fitness hack.

It's a guide for anyone who wants to age with strength, confidence, and purpose. Whether you're just beginning your health journey or looking to stay strong well into your 50s, 60s, 70s, and beyond, Playing the Long Game will help you stop chasing quick fixes and start building a life of lasting health.

Because the goal isn't simply to live longer.

It's to live well-for as long as you can.

À propos de l'auteur

Ken Nodes has spent more than five decades learning what it means to take care of a body over the course of a lifetime. From teenage athletics to Wall Street trading floors, from owning a CrossFit gym to coaching adults over 40, his path through health and fitness has been anything but linear. Now 60, Ken brings a different perspective to health and fitness: one built on consistency, longevity, and the belief that it is never too late to become stronger. What began as a pursuit of performance eventually became something deeper: a belief that strength, health, and resilience are not goals reserved for the young, but lifelong practices available to everyone.Today, Ken co-runs Lifting Kilos, a private coaching practice, with his wife Liz, helping everyday adults over 40 get stronger, move better, and build habits that last. His work is grounded in a simple philosophy: meaningful health is built slowly, maintained consistently, and becomes more important with age.Playing the Long Game is his first book.
