Synopsis

This is the story of an easily embarrassed 16 year old boy, who seems to be only interested in playing badminton until a new blonde haired coach, and her very attractive daughter, enter his life. A teenage romance then unfolds which turns his whole life upside down, but his friends and family are kept in the dark about his new situation. Events soon take a sinister turn though when a pupil from Basingrove school is found dead. Detective Inspector Roberts takes on the case, but he is initially unaware that a female amateur sleuth has also become involved in trying to solve that murder, and it is she who rapidly discovers that there is far more to her sleepy town than she had ever imagined. The tale is set in 1985, so she has no internet or mobile phone to help her and, while Inspector Roberts can find no murder weapon, evidence or motive for the murder, his counterpart meets many weird and varied people, and believes that it is she who has found the murderer. Ultimately though, they are both very surprised when the true culprit is finally unearthed.
