In November of 2003, the first version of this cookbook was published under the title of Bottoms Family Cookbook. This book was released on 11/28/2003 on the occasion of Marie Armstrong Bottoms' eighty-eighth year. Marie was the beloved mother of Betty Sue Brown. Over their lifetimes they shared countless hours looking through old-time recipe books planning for family gatherings. Sometimes the dishes never were made. It was more about the conversation and joy in planning time for family gatherings. The meal was simply the vehicle used to plan that next family reunion. Gone are the times, when cousins of third and fourth generations gather together sharing their favorite covered dishes. Yes, the food was delightful but so was the conversation and cultures shared. This recipe book will contain outstanding dishes, no doubt; but it also will contain some precious memories of our family and in the end we will all gather with our favorite dishes on the occasion of my Mother's eightieth birthday. This will be a revival of those old- time family reunions that will be celebrated over the life of Betty Sue Brown.
