The basic intention of God in putting His son (Adam) into the earth was to cause Himself to be seen and understood in the natural world. To accomplish this goal, God made a single being composed of three parts: body, soul, and spirit. The Fall destroyed the spirit-soul balance in man, and the soul began to act independently of the spirit. The dominance of the soul over the spirit that began with Adam in the Garden of Eden was reversed by Jesus, the Pattern Son, in the Garden of Gethsemane.
