I try to push against him, but it's pointless. His body is like a wall, and I can't even budge an inch. I feel the heat of his anger in the weight of his gaze, and I know instantly that I've pushed him too far. I shouldn't have provoked the beast.

He could snap my neck in an instant if he wanted to.

I struggle against his grip, pushing harder, but it only makes things worse. My hand swings out, knocking the cup of coffee off the counter. It crashes to the floor and sends shards of ceramic scattering across the tiles, spilling the content inside of it.

But neither of us paid attention to the broken cup. Our eyes lock. The tension between us crackles like a live wire. In Icarus's eyes, I see a dangerous mix of passion and fury, and though I can't feel his beast, I'm more afraid of Icarus himself than the dark creature lurking beneath his skin.

At least, I am sure his beast will not hurt me in any way.

"Answer me, Sky. How will you take responsibility for your father's mistake?" His gaze drips with malice as it roams over my body, and his grin widens into something cruel. "I think you're a good fuck. Do you think that'll be enough to make up for it?"
