John Dobbins, a SERE Trained, Ivy League and US Government Agency Instructor, brings you an easy to digest collection of ancient and modern wilderness wisdom, which will save your life. This Field Manual serves as the best-in-class Wilderness Leader’s Guide Book, supporting people who want to do more at a safer and higher level, and it goes farther to teach you about wild edible and medicinal plants, disaster response, signaling, finding missing people and even how to teach the material in this text to others.
Every word in this book is true, and many of them will be shocking, but they are 100% proven and guaranteed. You will learn how to appropriately prepare, how to use the sun, moon and stars as a compass, and to improvise a variety of traps and weapons. The text also covers useful knots for high angle rescue and snares, and a full wilderness emergency medicine program, through the Wilderness EMT Level. You will learn how to make better decisions, and to continuously set yourself up for success.
You will be truly amazed by how much you learn, and how easy the high-level, high-impact information is to understand and implement throughout your life. Readers with applicable skills are also invited to volunteer with Capable Americans Responding Everywhere (CARE), which is our disaster response and humanitarian assistance 501(c)3. A portion of all Field Manual proceeds is donated to CARE to support the mission of expeditiously helping others when they need it most.

About the Author
EXAMPLES OF TEXT FROM THE US SCHOOL OF SURVIVAL FIELD MANUAL:
Recognizing Sign
Animals deliberately and accidentally leave evidence of their presence. Examples include scat, hair, blood, claw marks, tracks, partially eaten animals or foliage, and disturbed brush. Identifying any of these signs will usually lead you to discover that you have found a location that an animal uses to travel, drink, eat, mate or sleep. Follow the tracks to a good ambush location, set up silently and wait.
Pace Counts
Establishing a pace count gives you an approximate idea of how far you have traveled, making it easier to know where you are. Pace counts must be taken on terrain that will closely match the terrain where you will be using the pace count technique. For example, it would be foolish to conduct your initial pace count in the parking lot when you will later be navigating through rough wilderness environments.
How to Make a Multi Layer Bio Filter
Find a container like a two liter soda bottle or a bucket
Ensure that it has a drain hole, or create one in the lowest location relative to direction of flow
With the drain hole facing down to the ground, place a layer of cotton over it as a final filter
Then fill 1/3 of the container with smashed charcoal from a clean, wood-only fire
Next, fill the middle third of the container with sand
Finally, fill the top 1/3 of the container with small pebbles
Pour water in the top, and watch it perfuse and drain through the various layers of filtration
Water is safe to drink immediately after passing through the bio filter
Better tasting water comes after the first and second pour-and-pass through
