Synopsis

If you ever wanted to know the real story of how Kathak originated and its evolution prior to the medieval age then this book is for you. Journey of Kathak: In Conversation with Dr. Puru Dadheech - Part 1 traces the journey of Kathak from time immemorial to the 10th century. Kathak is an Indian Classical dance and has its roots in the Natyashastra, the oldest performing arts text dating to 200 BC to 200 AD. Dr. Puru Dadheech debunks the myth that Kathak originated during the Mughal rule and carefully details the origins of India's oldest performing art which is recognized as one of the classical dances of India. The book also includes interesting verses from ancient texts that are useful for practitioners as well as those curious about Kathak.
