This book touches on aspects of African monarchic culture and practice, exposing their exotic nature on the one hand, and on the other, their potential for exploitation and abuse of the citizenry. Particularly in view, is the mistreatment of women in society, which runs parallel with the issue of women’s rights the world over. Parts allegorical, parts metaphysical, and parts sociological, it creates the space for discussion about what kind of world we want to live in and create for ourselves and our children, after us.
Although intended primarily for the entertainment of the reader, the book also attempts with imprecision and non-specificity to detail some of the customs and intrigues surrounding ancient African monarchical traditions and cultures.
For those for whom the book's narrative may be a reminder of some unpleasant experiences, they may rest assured that the intent is not to rekindle pre-existent memories or pain but rather to offer a ray of hope.
The lesson that this book seeks to leave with the reader is that while life sometimes deals a bad hand, it is what you make of it that counts in the end.
I strongly recommend this book to all and sundry. Read it. Love it.
