Synopsis

In this third collection of poems, the author continues the theme from her first two books of poetry on the human relationship with the divine, which plays out through a meditation on the relation between worlds (material and spiritual, earthly and heavenly), as well as in terms of the author’s intimate and long-standing relationship with her spiritual teacher, to whom the book is dedicated. Also explored in this collection are the themes of relation with the more-than-human world and of spiritual friendship and loss. While deeply personal, the poems nevertheless draw imagery from the author’s familiarity with a variety of religious and spiritual traditions, struggling towards a mode of expression of the spiritual life on earth that will appeal to readers of diverse religious backgrounds.
