Synopsis

Reminiscences of Life from my childhood in Bewcastle, near the Scottish Border, through the war, through the decades and into the 21st century

My parents and grandparents taught me so much including the value of working hard. I have seen them tired, exhausted, in pain, in turmoil and yet they got on with life without a thought. – They kept on keeping on and that is real strength.
Life wasn’t easy for them, food and supplies were scarce, nothing was wasted and they ‘made do’ with very little. I learned skills that I have carried with me all my life and have been able to pass on to others. Through the decades as I grew up, I experienced changing and different kinds of challenges but thanks to my hard working family and the supportive environment and basic conditions of my childhood, my siblings and I have never been afraid of hard work. We have embraced it. Growing up through the war years has taught me resilience and an appreciation for the simple things in life. - This is the story of my life.
