Our Lives
Our lives were sewn together with that of our neighbours
in rural communities on Prince Edward Island.
Like it or not, we were like a morning glory vine
growing round and round a clump of blackberry canes.
Sometimes the thorns hurt, sometimes they didn't.
In times for short periods, it felt warm and fuzzy,
but mostly it felt like trying to tap dance with a bunch
of burdocks shoved up your ass.
