Synopsis

The battle against antibiotic resistance is one of the most pressing public health issues of our time. Antibacterial drugs with new mechanism of action that are not susceptible to established resistance mechanisms are urgently needed as a result of inevitable emergence of resistance following the introduction of novel antibiotics. Trametes versicolor was locally handpicked and characterized using morphological appearance, microscopy and molecular methods showed high bacteriostatic and bactericidal activity against pathogenic microorganisms such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Klebsiella sp and Bacillus sp.
