The voyages of Aberdeen Sailmaker James Mackland
This book documents the Clipper Ship voyages of sailmaker James Mackland, who was born in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1858. He was a sailmaker on some of the fastest and most graceful sailing ships of the late 1800s, several of which built in the Aberdeen shipyards of Walter Hood and John Duthie. It also documents some family history, and gives details of Victorian Aberdeen, and details of his voyages on foreign service from 1881 to 1892. The voyages include trips from UK ports to Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Calcutta, and the United States.
