Synopsis

My family had a history of numerous ties to Brodick Castle through my maternal and paternal grandfathers’ employment with the Duke and Duchess of Montrose as well as my father and his three siblings growing up with the four Montrose children in the 1920s on the picturesque Isle of Arran off the west coast of Scotland.
In 1957 I embarked on some of my life’s most memorable adventures when Lady Jean (Montrose) Fforde employed me for a variety of positions within her Arran Estate. Lady Jean and I shared a truly unforgettable deer hunting experience in North Glen Sannox on the day we encountered a white stag known to have a significant symbolic meaning to a legend linked to her Hamilton descendants.
I hope you will enjoy my stories about growing up on a small Scottish Island and the fun people I grew up with, worked with, and some of the more colourful characters I met along the way.
