Synopsis

In Book II, “Karu Mar, The Awakening,” Melissa’s dragon warrior power (see Book I) is awakened within her, Adalet’s power with the Umeme comes to fullness, and Barnabas wields the sword of power against the Lusan battle commander. Other previously unknown creatures are also awakened in fulfillment of the prophecies that lead to the righteous Lusans and creatures defeating the combined forces of the evil PrinceToh-Kali and the evil Golden Dragon. - Five years had passed since Captain Eli had brought Adalet to Hang-gu for safety. During those years, she and Melissa had matured and their little girl dreams and fantasies of fighting against evil were replaced by the cold hard reality that there was a real and imminent conflict between good and evil that they were soon to be involved in. Melissa has just stated that she almost wished she were a Dragon so she could have the power to defend the weak and to deter evil and injustice:
"So, what were we talking about when the book caught on fire?”
Adalet responded: “Melissa, I tell you this as your friend.The BOOK did not catch on fire. You said you almost wished you were a Dragon and your HANDS caught on fire. Malpirius told me, but did not tell you, that you would begin to experience Dragon powers when the time was right. I guess that is now.
The awakening of the Dragon power within Melissa had not gone unnoticed. The King of Dragons sensed a shift in the balance of power between good and evil. It felt to him just as if a Dragon of great power had just been born, but none had been, so he knew that this awakening was related to Melissa.
As Adalet was telling Melissa about her Dragon ride with Malpirius in which he told her of the Dragon secrets, they both heard the sound of Dragon’s wings overflying the library. They looked out the window and saw the Red Dragon coming to land in the back yard. The girls rushed to the window to speak with Malpirius, who said:
“I was sent to find you and now I know why. Melissa, there has been an awakening in you,” he stated.
The awakening of Melissa moved the prophecy clock ahead closer to midnight. The time had come to begin the last battles to free the land of Lusa from the tyranny of Toh-kali’s reign. The Creator’s patience was at an end.
