Synopsis

Two exceptional young teens and their genetically-enhanced German Shepherds go on the run from international terrorists who would use them to steal their parents' classified research.

Twelve-year-old friends Noah and Avika had an idyllic life filled with education, athletics, and leisure. Suddenly, their worlds are torn apart when their parents become the target of international terrorists and government operatives seeking their ground-breaking research at the Animal Intelligence Institute.

Going on the run from the rocky coasts of Maine to the beaches of the Turks and Caicos Islands, Noah and Avika fight to stay alive and keep their secrets safe. They need their wits, intellect, and help from their friends to stay one step ahead of their pursuers.

Through it all, they are defended by The Protectors, Sasha and Ajax. These two exceptional German Shepherds have capabilities beyond any typical canine. They will stop at nothing to ensure the safety of those they love.

Excerpts from a professional book reviewer:
The Protectors by Paul J. Westgate is one of the most action-packed opuses I have read in a while.

Children commanded a crucial role in the entire book. Unlike most reads that portray children as mere bystanders, Westgate envisaged children as intelligent, stoic, and fundamental problem-solvers. This is what I liked most about this novel.

I wholeheartedly rate this novel four out of four stars because I disliked nothing...It is a fast-paced novel that will appeal to those who love dogs and are interested in the scientific modification of species. I also recommend this novel to young adults who relish crime...
