Synopsis
Byron Becker pursues a ruthless and elusive killer in the Nation’s Capital while confronting professional misconduct issues that threaten to end his military career!
Returning from Germany, Becker is assigned as the Special Agent-in-Charge of the most politically sensitive office in Army CID and quickly discovers that conducting Army interest criminal investigations in the Nation’s Capital is risky business, both professionally and personally. An effort to correct the unscrupulous behavior of his Commanding Officer backfires and results in a United States Attorney charging Becker with a civil rights violation! Directed to conduct an unofficial inquiry of a senior officer for a minor offense committed off-post exposes an archaic policy about who can serve in the military. Navigating these unusual and troubled waters without sinking his military career requires the help of old friends, including the love of his life, Mary Weber.
While sorting out these political challenges, Becker becomes intrigued by media reports of a local murder that is suspiciously similar to an unsolved murder at his last duty station in Germany. Convinced the killer in both murders is the same person, Becker has to overcome another political conundrum. To prove it, he needs the help of the FBI, an organization not known for sharing. Once on the hunt, Becker uncovers unimaginable truths about the killer.
