Synopsis

Many moons ago I started writing a story of my journey through life to leave as a legacy to my family but along the way it became much more than that especially when I got together with Mal who eventually became my third husband and as Dad said when we got married, “This is the last time I am giving you away!”
We seemed to do so many interesting and varied jobs and funny things always seemed to be happening along the way. I wrote them all down to share with my parents. The letters were an upbeat way of including them in our lives as we didn’t get to see them often and they didn’t travel far and the letters were all kept so I have been able to use them for the stories.

We knew that interesting jobs and working ourselves into the ground clearly couldn’t continue forever so we decided to make a move, but the question was where?

Well, we ended up relocating to southern Spain and all the amusing things that happened along the way were written down. It was a venture to live a quieter life in a country that we were originally unfamiliar with so had to learn not only the language but the ways of the people we live amongst. We never do things the easy way and battling not only the elements but a different way of life has become both challenging and interesting .

We live up a mountain in an ancient farmhouse that was renovated in the 70’s set in a pine forest in the Alicante region. you might think living here in the mountains would be lonely with only a handful of Spanish neighbours, but somehow we ended up sharing our lives with firstly a dog and now our cats, chickens, ducks and geese. Oh, and occasionally the passing wildlife but there is never a dull moment here and it’s all written down in this book.
The start includes my early years, then my time at art college, followed by a career as an artist. (That neatly sums up the first 56 years…) However, the start does give a background to all the other stories. I gave a mention to my family who are always there for us and many friends who have got caught up in our madcap schemes.
The chuckles follow in the second half and are all true; Funny moments that seem to follow us around. The two adventures towards the end of the book and are for me as adventurous as things get. There are only a couple but perhaps that is two more than most, and quite enough for me.
