Synopsis

‘A Trio of Tales’ consists of three individual stories: ‘The Awakening’, ‘The Driver’, and ‘The Parcel’. Each story consists of a separate scenario and different characters.
Synopsis of ‘The Awakening’
When a man regains consciousness after being in a coma for twenty-one days, his world is about to be plunged into total confusion. He discovers that he is in a New York City hospital, but he can’t ever recall been to America in his life. He believes he is a British citizen called Adam Loxley. The doctors treating him tell him, that actually, he is a US national called Patrick Calvert.
Why does he think his name is Adam Loxley? He is determined to find out who he really is. He slips out the hospital. During the next few hours, he looks for answers. He determines that he really is Patrick Calvert and that he once worked for the New York City based newspaper, called ‘The Echo’. He was an investigation journalist called Jack West.
We discover why he had to leave New York City and settle in London and why he had to change his name from Calvert to Loxley. Furthermore, we learn, that twenty-one days ago he survived a terrorist attack on a London tube train.
It is only through the fleetingly recollections that he is able to piece his true identity together and what happened to him.

Synopsis of ‘The Driver’
‘The Driver’ is a high octane, fast and pacey thriller with a killer twist. When a former racing car driver is given the opportunity to become a getaway driver for a gang of four villains, it’s a job he literally takes in both hands.
But, does he have an ulterior motive? Is he doing it, not for the money, but for a reason that is not immediately obvious?
Three days before Christmas the gang attempt another robbery on a jewellery store. In the aftermath of the raid, Dean Meaden reveals the true reason why he agreed to become a getaway driver. In an act of cold murder, he executes two members of the gang.
The story now turns in a different direction has Meaden, his father and his uncle, have to dispose of the two bodies. When the other two remaining members of the gang begin to get suspicious of Meaden, then it becomes imperative to get rid of the bodies, but they have to do it in a way that doesn’t point the finger at them.

Synopsis of ‘The Parcel’
When Matt Glenn meets a man in a London coffee shop, who gives him the opportunity of earning one hundred and fifty pounds to collect a parcel, he agrees to do it. But what does it contain? Glenn has no idea.
When, hours later, he opens the parcel to discover it contains a box holding a severed human head, feet and hands, his whole world is turned upside down.
In order to try and determine who the body parts once belonged to the story now slips into a period of flashback and moves through Glenn’s recent past. We consider his relationships and friends. Could it have something to do with the mysterious girl he had recently met? Or some of his associates who live on the edge of normality? Like his friend, Tom Barr, who is a dodgy antique dealer, or Lyndon Christie who is an art forger.
What are the connections? We follow Glenn as he attempts to piece it all together and consider all the variables to determine the answers.
