Synopsis

The season of Advent is a time of waiting; it is a time of preparing our hearts for the coming of our Savior, Jesus. “Advent” is a word that means “coming,” just like Jesus came to the earth to live with His people. While we wait for the coming of Christmas, may the simple truths found in the letters of the alphabet of this book help you and your children to learn more about the Truth of Jesus, and about the wonder that the Savior has come for us!

How to use this book: Work through one letter each day, starting November 30th (to continue through Christmas Day), or November 29th (to finish on Christmas Eve). Parents will enjoy reading aloud with younger children, or as a family devotion, and using the final sentence of each letter’s paragraph as an Advent reflection. Each letter has an ornament corresponding to its picture to color in the back of the book. You may make photocopies of the ornaments for each child to color every day, insert a hanger, and then hang them on a clothesline or small Christmas tree, as a reminder of the letters and lessons already studied. Children will enjoy watching the tree fill up with ornaments, as they learn the impact of the unfolding story of Christmas and wait in anxious anticipation for His coming.
