Synopsis

This book is my fourth collection of presentations on most of the weekly Torah portions and the Jewish holy days. Also included is a substantial monograph on the life, times and teachings of Maimonides. Like the first three volumes, these essays are intended to be consistent with mainline Jewish tradition, while still heavily influenced by my personal background (a Jewish refugee from Egypt) and my scientific and rational outlook (a doctorate in theoretical physics and a career as a defense analyst). Direct quotations from the Tanach, the Talmud, the Midrash, the classical commentators and other traditional Jewish sources abound and form the basis of my presentations. This book is written for people who are serious about studying Judaism from both a spiritual and a rational point of view, in the tradition of Maimonides.
