A Woman in Two Worlds: Plucking Life’s Strings is my story that documents some of the key, meaningful moments in my life. To tell my story, I try to highlight the humorous and challenging times I have faced while providing a series of snapshots of all the experiences I have encountered growing up in two very different worlds. I chronicle these experiences of my life, beginning with my spoiled upbringing as the youngest of five children during a period where only one child per family is allowed in China. I describe my development into a professional musician and starting my career as a Pipa player in the Beijing Opera. My move to the U.S. brought a series of struggles as I worked to adopt the new culture and language while raising my three children. I reflect on losing my first career as a professional musician and how that impacted me. I try to emphasize the importance of being persistent and working hard. I detail the challenges of trying to earn a living for my family through a series of low paying jobs. One overarching theme is overcoming adversity and never giving up. I will share how I met many wonderful and interesting people in my life who each had a significant impact on my life and growth. Each of these people taught me a new set of skills that I was able to utilize and ultimately establish a successful business and because of that, I will forever cherish those relationships. I emphasize the importance of always helping others and how I have always done everything I can to do so – at times, over the well-being of myself. This book gives me an opportunity to share some of my unique life experiences with you in hopes that you will not only enjoy my stories, but also be inspired to find a way to “pluck” through any adversity to live a beautiful life – like I have,
