Synopsis

At the age of 15, Julius Caesar was given a tutor of rhetoric by the name of Marcus Antonius Gnipho, who prepared him for a career in politics. Gnipho became more than a tutor when he helped Caesar escape a death warrant issued by the reigning dictator and nursed him through a deadly fever. He accompanied Caesar into the legions and helped him conclude a diplomatic mission that resulted in Caesar becoming the admiral of a fleet and a decorated warrior in a land battle.

Gnipho was so impressed by Caesar that he wondered what it was about Roman culture that created such courageous men who became successful warriors and brilliant politicians. He explored the many influences that shaped the character of Julius Caesar, whose legend intrigues us even today.

This is the book he might have written and could have written.
