Synopsis

This book is a product of creative thinking and applied knowledge on a wide range of subjects. It is about knowledge sharing.
The book, “Applied Knowledge and Lateral Thinking”, contains collections some of writings after a thorough research on the various subjects. The contents can be applied in various situations and contexts. Based on the sources of materials for this 17-chapter book, the contents are grouped into three sections. The first 10 chapters covers packaging of a business plan, business management tips with many case studies, entrepreneurship, leadership issues etc. In essence the first section is a “mixed grill” of topics. The contents are essentially notes of the author on a wide range of books on the subject matter.
Chapter 11 constitutes section two of the book. It is essentially the course contents developed by the author for the officials of a state government in 2011 on creative thinking and problem solving. The author was one of the resource persons., the chapter contains his paper and notes on other topics covered during the training seminar.
The last six chapters are the write-ups of the author on various subjects – Nigerian economy, politics, socio-economic issues, community development etc that were either published in journals, tabloids or presented at conferences. It is another “salad” section where various subjects were addressed. The contents touched on timeless issues that are relevant till today. For an example, one of the chapters titled “Economic History of Nigeria: The Imperatives of Good Leadership and Effective Planning” was a well-researched essay at the instance of a retired multinational company executive who later served as a federal minister when he was to deliver a lecture to the corporate Nigeria.
This is yet another one-stop pictorial book in which readers can get to explore wide range of subjects and relevant topics. Some photos recorded during intellectual outings of the author at seminars were included. Business managers, entrepreneurs and other people occupying position of leadership would find the book as a s good addition to their library; while students of economics, finance and management would definitely find the book useful too.
