The last few years have been some of the most stressful and difficult in recent memory for people of all ages and walks of life. The threat and uncertainty that has been caused by a global pandemic and the increased social, cultural, political, and economic crises and turmoil have made it hard for many to survive, much less to thrive. Fortunately, there is genuine hope for each of us to rise above the stress and build a better future with positive psychology - the science of happiness and what makes life worth living. This workbook presents a proven way of using positive psychology to make the most of your life and become your best even in times of stress. The approach is based on a top rated class that has been shown to increase happiness, well-being, meaning, hope, and resilience while decreasing anxiety, depression, and stress. There are 24 lessons with a variety of activities, exercises, and links for accompanying videos. These will make it possible for you to not only survive but to thrive in finding more joy, happiness, and fulfillment. This workbook was developed as part of a positive psychology challenge by Bruce W. Smith, Ph.D., with help from John Freisinger, Tanya Kallan, and the Center for Applied Positive Psychology (CAPP) in New Mexico, U.S.A. Dr. Smith is an associate professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of New Mexico (UNM) in Albuquerque who studies resilience and thriving and has taught positive psychology since 2005. The mission of CAPP is to spread the benefits of positive psychology as broadly as possible.
