Synopsis
The story begins with the unlikely friendship between two girls. One a native indian called Yellow Bird and the other a colonial girl named Amanda. The two got along well but kept their friendship a secret for fear that their parents would not approve. Then one day, a few soldiers discovered the two girls playing together. They accused Amanda's parents of being indian sympathizers and killed them. When the soldiers decided to kill the two little girls Yellow Bird's father and brothers came to their rescue, killing the soldiers and burning Amanda's home. Thus destroying all the evidence of what had happened. Amanda was taken into Yellow Bird's family that day to grow up in an indian village.
