Synopsis

Software engineer Darren Foster dies of cancer only to find himself alive and healthier than ever in the strangest place he has ever seen. As he explores his bizarre surroundings, he meets Liliana Nosek, a Polish lady who died during World War II. Together, they raise the ire of Theor, a highly advanced alien whose home they have entered. Theor threatens to dissolve them into nothing, but Darren and Liliana escape into Theor’s outside world, a curious pocket universe made of diverse layers.

The couple gain an alien companion, Ipsie, and meet people from Earth’s past. Sadly, not everyone is helpful. While Ernest Hemmingway befriends them, Blackbeard enslaves them, threatening to work them to a final death.

Theor decides to eliminate the few hundred humans living in his pocket universe. Far worse, he also decides to destroy Earth and all eight billion souls living there. When he demonstrates the ability to do so, it is, effectively, a declaration of war on humanity.

But Earth can't fight back. They have no idea that Theor and his pocket universe exist. So it is up to Darren, Liliana, and the few hundred dead humans living in Theor's world to try to save everyone. Can these ragged dead people, most of them from a time well before the technological age, stop a vastly superior alien from destroying the entire human race, from wiping every trace of humanity out of the history of the universe? Or will Darren, Liliana, and the other dead humans meet a final death at Theor’s hand?
