“Talking for a Purpose” introduces a progressive perspective to classroom management, emphasising the necessity of adult accountability within educational settings. Unlike traditional approaches that focus primarily on children’s behaviour, this framework requires educators to first reflect upon and regulate their own behaviour, language and responses before supporting children’s behaviour.
The book systematically guides readers through its sections using evidence-based, classroom-bases examples and scenarios, complemented by thoughtfully designed reflective activities. Through this structured approach, educators acquire the tools to implement a consistent, language-driven strategy, enabling them to make deliberate and regulated decisions when confronted with a variety of behaviour challenges in the classroom.
