Newly revised in 2026, Aaron Judge: The Inspiring Story of One of Baseball's Rising All-Stars tells a story of how a towering outfielder from Northern California became the most feared power hitter of his generation. In 2022, Aaron Judge hit 62 home runs to break Roger Maris's 61-year-old American League single-season record, one of three Most Valuable Player awards he has claimed in four seasons.
The New York Yankees drafted Judge out of Fresno State in 2013, and he won American League Rookie of the Year by unanimous vote in 2017 after a 52-home-run debut. Following his record-setting 2022 MVP season, the Yankees named him team captain on a nine-year contract. He won a second MVP in 2024 as the fastest player ever to reach 300 career home runs, then added a third MVP and his first batting title in 2025. This baseball book examines what makes Aaron Judge one of the sport's premier sluggers.
Davis Schneider thwacked a line drive over Ryan McMahon's head and into the left-field corner; the ball caromed to Cody Bellinger, but not before the short, mustachioed Blue Jay outfielder had rumbled to second with a stand-up double. A few cheers echoed through the stands, perhaps for Schneider, whose hometown of Berlin, New Jersey, was not far away. However, most of the Yankee Stadium crowd, decked out in pinstriped paraphernalia, fell silent as they watched Carlos Rodon try to dig himself out of a hole that, if it got any bigger, would send the Yankees home for the year without a postseason win.
Schneider's leadoff double brought Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to the plate, who had, what seemed like only moments ago, brought the Yankees to their knees with his third home run of the series. With the Blue Jays already up 2-0 in the best-of-five 2025 ALDS, and with the score now 2-1 Toronto, Vladdy was just about the last person Yankee fans wanted to see swing the bat.
Yankee manager Aaron Boone clearly shared the sentiment, as he ordered an intentional walk. Having dodged Guerrero's bat, Rodon retired Alejandro Kirk on an easy flyball to right.
