Sexually frustrated wanna-be pilot Roger starts learning to fly at the Linton Flying Club against the wishes of his domineering wife Alison. He meets Mandy and a group of misfit pilots that bring much-needed enjoyment into his life as the club falls apart under new ownership.

Roger has a lifelong ambition to learn to fly. His father left him some money in his will to allow him to do so. Alison wants to use that money to build a granny annexe on their house, so her mother can come and live with them. Roger hates her mother, who is both cantankerous and smells of piss.

Roger goes for lessons and hits it off with Mandy, the flying school's receptionist. An incident with a stuck transmit button whilst discussing female anatomy with the flying instructor, brings Roger to everyone's attention due to the Air Traffic recording of the incident being distributed to all club members mobile phones......
