Synopsis

Shahlah Alizadeh, an Iranian civil servant working as a translator becomes embroiled in a subversive plot involving kidnapped geologists, the Russian mafia and Georgian criminals. While she follows orders to recover stolen uranium chemicals that are labeled as drilling salts and mud, destined for Iran’s secret nuclear program, she knows that any publicity will cast concern over the recent Iran-United States nuclear agreement. Her two combatants kidnap two geologists working in eastern Turkey and use them to persuade the Russian mafia they are employees of an exploration company seeking to buy drilling materials. Meanwhile in searching for the missing geologists their Australian friends, assisted by Kurdish separatists, unwittingly become partners in the geopolitical conflict. Based on recent events the novel depicts political tensions associated with environmental issues surrounding potential nuclear threats from terrorists.
