Leon Trotsky (1879-1940) was a Soviet revolutionary and Marxist theorist born inYanovska, Russian Empire and his strain of Marxist thought is known Trotskyism.Trotsky was an influential figure in the October Revolution 1917 who immediatelybecame a leader within the Communist Party and also becoming a member of the first Politburo. Due to power struggle, Trotsky was removed from his positions in the Communist Party and eventually expelled from the Soviet Union in 1929, he would spendthe rest of his life in exile before his assassination in 1940 in his house in Mexico City by by a soviet agent Ramón Mercader.
