Dr. Georg Hoffman lives in a small North German town with his family during the uncertain years of Nazi rule. War is threatening the lives of those they love and respect. Propaganda and the Gestapo warn everyone of the need to watch out for the enemy, leading Georg to make difficult decisions that will threaten his family’s survival. In Kerstin Moore’s debut novel, we are confronted with the secrets we choose to keep in order to do the right thing, the strain those secrets bring, and how with time and healing, we can make sense of loss, grief, and sufferings. Those who have been traumatised by life will find hope and faith.Based on a true story.
