A cat is a unique animal, considered domestic, but trying to convince the cat it’s domesticated would reveal a different story. This particular novel involves a cat named Mr. Charlie, acknowledged as not just a pet, but a main character and a potential hero as his character bonds wholeheartedly with the tale. The story itself is not important since the tale is total fiction, conjured up from the imagination of a self-proclaimed storyteller and animal lover. Yet, what ‘is’ important is you, the person reading this novel as you meld with the characters Chip, Tori, Lani, and of course Mr. Charlie, when they secretly unfold a sinister and mysterious campaign by some of the new neighbors, a conjuration known as the Cosmic Diablerie. A host of quite a few other characters, good and evil, along with those mentioned, disinter the testament of a town and the townspeople who encounter unexpected and unexplained revelations regarding the disappearance of neighbors and the physical layout of the borough’s street itself. Suspicions rise among neighbors over spruce trees being planted, practiced shamanism and the discovered history that the town block was actually located where an ancient temple used to be. The characters are confronted with the inevitable question of, “Do we really know who our neighbors are?” - as murders and other suspicious events occur and befall individuals within the small hamlet of Springer, PA. The tale’s nefarious undertakings and the reevaluating of past relationships and cherished rapports, animal and human alike, leads to an adventure through the depths of the deranged as well as the surreal. Throughout the novel’s drama the one constant, the prodigious invariable that’s consistently woven throughout the account is the endearing and relentless presence of the cat, Mr. Charlie.
