The year is 1920, and women in the United States have just won the Right to Vote in elections! In Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, young Margaret takes her little brother George on the local trolley to the town of Boonton for a badly-needed haircut. Along the way, the children meet a few neighborhood women who participated in the Suffrage Movement. The women depicted in this story were actual historical figures from Mountain Lakes and Boonton, NJ. This book honors the 100th Anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution, and acknowledges the sacrifices that many women made to achieve it - some of whom once walked the same streets that we do!
