Synopsis

Lisbeth's whole world revolved around herself, but that summer of 1944 was filled with news of World War II. Everything for her small town of Bedford, Virginia would change with the flood of Western Union telegrams arriving in July. Nineteen of her hometown boys died in the first assault wave that landed on bloody Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. Her family's reaction to the devastating news as it unfolds, and her neighbor's sacrifices, hit the town hard. The D-Day invasion shakes the very foundation of her world, causing Lisbeth to explore questions beyond her years. She grapples with her observations and innocence that is challenged by those events . That day is still felt by her and Bedford, Virginia nearly a century later as they honor those who loved and lost on D-Day.
