Synopsis

There are many theories that have been suggested as to the cause and origin of religion. Most of these theories ignore or distort the actual evidence that has been discovered and that is available to us because of biases and conflicting presuppositions. When scholars do not like where the evidence leads, many of them find ways to avoid that evidence. Anthropology, archaeology and history all point to original monotheism as the answer to the question as to the original religion. The word monotheism never appears in ancient cultures because the term was invented in the 1600's.
