Synopsis

Berlin, 1914. Kaiser Wilhelm invites Bella, a dancing teacher from England, to instruct his officers. She meets Gerhard, they are attracted to each other, but before romance can blossom, war breaks out. Alone and an alien in Berlin, Bella turns to the only man who can help her – the Kaiser.
From ballroom to battlefield and beyond, THE KAISER & I charts the passionate friendship of a couple caught between the horrors of war and the joie de vivre of a Viennese waltz.

Scarborough, 1917. The poet Wilfred Owen is posted to the Clarence Gardens Hotel, which is being used as officers’ quarters. ON SCARBOROUGH FRONT pits him against Lieutenant-Colonel Gray, who has been brought out of retirement to serve his country once again.
