Synopsis

Drifting Away is a seven year story of my journey with my partner on an old Nicholson yacht through the Mediterranean, across the Atlantic through the Caribbean and down to the very remote islands of the South Pacific, New Zealand and then eventually living a further four years in a small island in Greece. We explored small islands in the Marquesas, French Polynesia, the Cook islands, Tonga and Fiji many of which were impossible to reach by public transport. Many of these sparsely populated islands had no electricity, running water, Shops or even money and the inhabitants were subsisting by fishing and growing their own food. Very few people visited and they were pleased to see us and we were able to help with mending outboard motors and other ways. It was a great insight into communities often showing creative and artistic talent.
