Synopsis

During the 1990’s, a series of physical and emotional traumas (“potholes”) nearly overwhelmed me. I felt the impact my dysfunctional childhood had on my adult life that led to frustration and rage. An abusive, alcoholic father and bullying brother made me fearful of men. My dating relationships were disasters.
Some men were so pitifully lonely and obsessive that I thought they were stalkers. The one I thought was Mr. Right broke my heart when he was both manipulative and secretive, and deceived me about his marriage. That was pothole #1.
A judgmental and demanding mother made me feel ashamed, guilty, and insecure. She was always troubled about losing friends, so she constantly insisted that her children make no mistakes that would reflect badly on her. Living up to her expectations was impossible, no matter what I did (or failed to do).
Flashbacks as an adult to these turbulent times led me to discover the focusing technique to deal with this pothole -- bad memories and depression.
Two potholes in a row: a painful procedure for skin cancer, and later that year I was diagnosed with uterine cancer. Then came surgery and debilitating chemo treatments. Initial fear of the unknown drove me to journaling, which was very cathartic. As I wrote about being anxious, the fear left me.
Through it all, my beloved bunny rabbit Jack provided therapeutic comfort during recovery and in times of stress. He listened to my fears and troubles with understanding and without judgment.
A house rabbit is a cuddly companion, as easy to care for as a cat or dog. In this book I share tips and techniques for keeping a bunny inside or outside one’s home or apartment.
Faith in God was my anchor during these crises. I encourage those going through life’s challenges of all kinds to depend on God's grace for strength in adversity and for spiritual healing.
With the love and support of Jack, family members and friends, I survived some serious potholes. The road ahead is smooth, and my future is bright and beautiful.
This is my first book, so I decided to write it under a pen name, which was chosen to honor my cherished bunny, Jack. I like to visualize him frisking in a meadow.
