Synopsis

On Christmas Eve, 2020, Couper lost his wife of 40 years after a 13 year struggle with her blood cancer. It was in the height of the Covid-19 pandemic and due to medical restrictions he was unable to follow the normal protocol in such matters; that is, family members assemble, food is delivered, people cry and laugh recalling the deceased and a formal burial happens. These poems recall his process from near death (emotionally), recalling his life and promises to his deceased wife and then a miraculous meeting and bonding with Christine and their marriage six months later. Mourning is necessary, essential if we are to recover our losses and find joy once again in life.
