Legally blind and a cancer survivor, Maya Farris is now 30 years old, and she wakes up from a coma, strapped to a hospital bed, with her deceased grandmother’s beautiful spirit encouraging her to come back and rejoin the land of the living.
But Maya isn’t sure she wants to. As she so poignantly says:
I just didn’t care. It’s hard to grow up thinking no one wants you. That you’re nothing but a burden. The trauma of constant surgeries, ever since I was five years old, was also very hard. People were supportive, but no one wants to be the blind kid. The sick kid. And the black kid.
What was still left to see?
PRAISE FOR M. L. FARRELL:
“M. L. Farrell’s debut book is an incredible opportunity to learn the challenges faced, the victories won, and the battles lost during the heart-expanding journey of living life legally blind. Poignant, but with a wonderful sense of humor woven in, she has written a story you’ll never forget. I’m looking forward to her next book!”
